Description: This is a rare May 20th, 1945 "Playgoer" playbill from the regional tour of the JOHN COLTON and CLEMENCE RANDOLPH play "RAIN" at the Geary Theatre in San Francisco, California. (The Original Broadway production opened November 7th, 1922 at Maxine Elliot's Theatre in New York City and ran for 648 performances. This revival toured in the summer of 1945, but failed to arrive on Broadway.) ..... Based on the W. SOMERSET MAUGHAM story, "Miss Thompson", the play starred GLADYS GEORGE as "Sadie Thompson" and VICTOR KILIAN as the "Rev. Alfred Davidson" and featured EDWIN AUGUST, JOHN SHAY, MURRAY BENNETT, MARY NORTH, VIRGINIA CULLEN, JOHN ROGERS, MARGARET GIBSON, LOYETTE LINDSAY, EDWARD COCH, HARVEY KING, PETER BUCHAN, FRANK GRIFFIN and ALLEN ADMIRE .....
