This release was part of the Les Parfums Mythiques collection, a collection of re-releases of many of Givenchy's older and newer previously discontinued favorites, made to the best of their modern abilities and limitations. Givenchy's Vetyver somehow accomplishes a fiery, smoky, yet squeaky not-exactly-soapy clean citrusy vetiver without the addition of that awful cheap/sweet/toothpaste'y/sporty/vaguely aquatic thing - whatever it is - that gets thrown into most masculine-leaning colognes these days. This one is mature and gentlemanly without feeling outdated. If you love vetiver, this will not disappoint. This one is particularly gorgeous, but if one can possibly love vetiver so much that they have way too many vetiver fragrances, one must make difficult choices. Even though this one has something bold that the others don't. "The others" I have in mind are Tom Ford's Grey Vetiver, Guerlain's Vetiver and Vetiver Extreme, even Creed's Vetiver Geranium, which is quite remarkable... is it an extra dry, bright tartness from the citrus, maybe? The coriander lending a fierce herbal quality? Or is it just that fabulously clean vetiver that evokes the most posh campfire you've ever sat by? Yes, I obviously love this, but I can't have everything. That's where you come in handy. Everything is in good working order, no chips or scratches, box is in good shape, sprays just fine and the fragrance... well, it's fantastic, obviously.
