Its popularity was re-produced in 2011-2012 and again in 2014 with slightly different specifications. (No reprints have been made since.) All Classic Customs have one thing in common: they have an aesthetic that is similar to guitars made by the Gibson Custom Shop.The wood material is a combination of mahogany body neck, maple top, and rosewood fingerboard. Gold hardware, a set of 57Classic 57ClassicPlus humbuckers, and a slim taper neck. EBONY FINISH The 7-layer binding is designed to age, giving it the look of a 1950s black beauty.Additionally, this 2007 version of the Classic Custom pays homage to the 1957 Les Paul Custom with LesPaul engraved on the brass truss rod cover.At first glance, this guitar looks almost identical to the Black Beauty, but the details are different. The fingerboard inlay is trapezoid, the head inlay is crown, the neck profile is slim taper, and the 7-layer binding is only on the top.The Black Beauty, on the other hand, has a block fingerboard inlay, a split diamond head inlay, a 50's style neck profile, a meaty medium C, and 7-ply binding on both the top and back. (Only the 2011-2012 version of the Classic Custom features a split diamond head inlay.)The Classic Custom has appeared many times in GuitaroftheWeek and has different versions. White binding silver burst color at week 16, 1954 spec with two P-90 pickups at week 28, cream color with gold covered humbuckers at week 39, three DiMarzio pickups at week 42.
