Description: This is a GER (Global Emergency Response) EWRAP HauteSpot Wireless Mesh communications device. These were engineered to provide satellite/wireless internet access in emergency/disaster scenarios where internet access is not readily available. Used for disaster recovery and pop-up events for wireless internet access. This was obtained from government surplus and was used for disaster recovery scenarios, based on the condition of the unit it looks like it was barely used.It's a self-contained unit which has a large SLA battery along with wireless components that combine to make a self-contained internet hot-spot. There's an AT&T device in the unit that I imagine is used for some type of communications/initializations. I replaced the internal SLA (sealed-lead-acid) battery with a fresh one, from there I can see that the unit properly powers on and eventually I can see on wireless devices that the SSID is advertised and when connecting to the ports on the back of the case I was able to obtain an IP Address/etc. It comes with a charger/battery maintainer that should be plugged in to ensure the unit has a full charge when it's needed. All batteries in the unit are sold as-is; although as I mentioned I just installed a new fresh 12vdc 21AH SLA battery in the unit so it should perform fairly well.I imagine there are some subscription/wireless type services required for use with this unit. No subscriptions, licenses, registration information etc is included. This listing is strictly for the hardware as pictured.
