General Robert E. Lee Commander Confederate Army Autograph Framed Display PSA

Description: Listed for auction is a stunning autographed framed display which contain the authenticated autograph of Robert E. Lee. General Lee commanded the Army of Northern Virginia from 1862 until its surrender in April of 1865. In 1865, Robert E. Lee was appointed as president of Washington College [later Washington and Lee University] in Lexington, Virginia. During his tenure as president from 1865 until his death in 1870, Lee supported reconciliation between North and South and is largely considered by both Confederate and Union officers as one of the Civil War's greatest generals. The display is centered around a striking color portrait of general Robert E. Lee in uniform. Mounted below is the autograph of Robert E. Lee signed on a page. The autograph is signed ''R.E. Lee'' in a dip pen. The page measures 3.00 x 2.50 inches, trivial toning otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph is bold, displays wonderfully and has been authenticated by PSA Authentication Services and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity. The last item is an engraved plaque with his name and rank. The display is nicely completed in a blue linen matte with each item framed in a gold wood fillet. The frame in an ornate gold wood which measures 21.00 x 15.00 inches. The frame is an older display, completed in all quality materials and in great condition.
