These GE/Maco M-2057 tubes are a great replacement for the 8950 model. They were installed in Maco linear amplifiers, but can be used to replace 8950's directly. The nominal plate voltage is 1,000 volts and higher. The proper grid biasing is required. They install in any 12 pin compactron tube socket, and use schematic 12GW for internal pin wiring filament, grid(s), and cathode locations. 12 volt filament. These are transmitting tubes that were manufactured in the United States and were sold as standard equipment in Maco linear amplifiers. Maco ran a higher plate voltage and achieved a much higher output wattage. My tube tester is described below. It the only way to test tubes under a real world load: The last two photos are my PAL 350 MDX tube linear. It is modified to PAL 500 M/MDX specifications. I've pulled every ounce of wattage from the transformer. These tubes are compatible with vintage linear amplifiers, & custom audio equipment. You can run up to 1500 volts on the plates with proper grid biasing. Most linears run them softly at 700 volts, including my test linear. I currently have 3 of these available.
