Description: 1689, the legendary Matasiro Fukagawa, the first-generation Eizaemon Fukagawa, started making pottery in Arita, using the name Koransha. In the late 17th century, Koransha’s prestigious products were made primarily for the imperial households of Japan. There was a large demand for these exquisite porcelain products from royalty in Europe and the United Kingdom. This plate is from an estate on Leelanau Peninsula. The plate is approx. 8” in diameter. The writing on the back tells us it is from the 19th century. The plate features fans and birds. This plate is in very excellent condition. Please examine pictures, part of condition and description. There may be a sea monster along the top and bottom. I have another Koransha Studio plate listed.
