Description: This stunning royal sized vase is 15" high to the top of handles (13" without height of handles). It is a true work of art, created by the famous Murano glass studio 'Fratelli Toso'. The mosaic pattern and multicolor design is made up of a buffet of different murrhines of diverse shapes and colors aligned in rows, mosaic style. Wonderful variety of colorful murrhines! The shiny glass body is flawlessly blown and the pattern is symmetric ; the design superb. There were 6 Toso brothers; experts have a challenge which brother did which vase until later on. This one is at least from the 1920s and as early as thc1910 or earlier. For my great grandfather''s Craftsman style house (inspired by ancestral square Scottish castle). It was built in 1907.Looks Deco because of the handles, but we see examples with the same multi-color handles from c1910. It was probably a pair originally for a deep mantlepiece where the handles would have been set back to avoid fireplace residue. Hence their placement towards the back of the mouth. It is in superb and wholly undamaged condition. My great grandmother liked to place this on her baby grand piano when guests were there and on holidays Otherwise kept in a recessed niche nearby. This is an exquisite example of early 20th century antique Venetian glass, a real museum piece still in wholly undamaged and issue free condition! Beautiful!
