Description: Antique / Vintage Beautiful FENTON GLASS Amethyst Grapes and Leaves Carnival Glass Ruffled Crimped EdgeBowl. ca. 1908-1913 Hand made 3 part mold blown Grapes and Leaves pattern is approximately 8 3/4” diameter 2 3/4” height to top of ruffles. The footed base is approximately 3 1/4” diameter.The exterior pattern is paneled and also has an iridescent finish. ~ John Fenton (Pioneer of Iridescent / Carnival Glass) Started Millersville Glass in Ohio and called the finish “Radium” / Fenton Glass in West Virginia with John and his brother originally called the iridescent finish “IRIDILL” which did not stick with public marketing. The bowl is in very good used antique carnival glass condition. No chips, cracks, or major damage detected. It has been in the same family for several generation. A previous owner placed a label on the bottom “ Vintage Millersville” I’m not certain of that, but the finish is consistent with other Fenton Brothers Creations. The 3 part mold may have been made earlier and used for other decorative bowls before being used for “carnival” finished glassware. There is a factory tooling mark and some fine grit on the bottom center of the bowl. Both the mark and grit are covered with the factory applied iridescent finish.Both factory blemishes occurred regularly with glass manufactured during this period. Some expected rub marks seen mainly on exterior. It is a rare and beautiful piece of glass regardless of the bemishes. The glass has a few small bubbles. The base rim shows expected fine wear from gentle use. All but the last two photos are shown with a black background. The last two photos were taken on natural linen background to show a different view of the iridescent finish.
