Description: Transform your garden into a tropical paradise with this exclusive collection of 4 breathtaking dragon fruit varieties. HOUGHTON: Houghton is a dragon fruit hybrid named after Arthur Duvernoix Houghton, or A.D. Houghton, (1870-1938). Dr. Houghton was a medical doctor, a botanist specializing in cacti, a member of the Los Angeles City Council from 1904 to 1906, he also wrote a book about Cacti titled “The Cactus Book” published in 1931. This variety produces medium-sized, half-pound oval-shaped fruit. The external appearance of the fruit is red with tiny deep green, almost brown fins. The inner pulp is a bright red purplish color with a semi-firm texture that is very sweet. The flowers are plentiful, fragrant, and self-fertile. MR WOO: According to Spicy Exotics, the Mr. Woo dragon fruit variety was given to a grower, who subsequently named it after the giver, Mr. Woo. The fruit weighs around a pound and has a pink/red skin with green fins and red/purple flesh inside. It is of good quality, having a Brix score of 19. The flesh is firm, grape-like tangy, and very sweet. We acquired the Mr. Woo cutting directly from Spicy Exotics, just for your peace of mind. OREJONA: The Thai Royal Blood dragon fruit was originally cultivated in Thailand with its distinctive oval shape appearance, and its very dark, deep red fleshed as suggested by its name. The fruit has a brix between 17 and 19, mild sweet, firm texture and very flavorful. Just for your peace of mind, the Thai Royal Blood cutting was acquired from Leticia Perez who received hers directly from the hybridizer in Thailand, she is also the admin of FB group Pitahayas Cotija. RED JAINA: Red Jaina dragon fruit typically weighs 0.75 to 1 pound, the fruit is sweet and very juicy, and closely resembles sweet ripe strawberries. The greatest potential is as a juicing variety, the crimson red lycopene enriched juice could complement a multitude of tropical drinks, smoothies, or culinary creations. The Red Jaina cutting was sourced directly from Grafting Dragon Fruit - Richard Le, just for your peace of mind. The fruits are deep red with red tips in color with a dark red, delicious flesh inside. KIP'S RED: Kip’s Red dragon fruit comes from the genus Hylocereus costaricensis, this variety came from Kip Omweg of Trio Nursery in Carpinteria, California. Kip noted that he was given a cutting of this plant in 1996 by Jenny Saragosa of Carpinteria CA who had been growing it in her garden for many years after collecting in travels into Central America. Kip’s Red fruit is large oval-shaped that can weigh about one pound and have a tough pink skin of overlapping scales with an interior of a dark purplish magenta-pink flesh, very sweet with hints of watermelon. TLM ROYAL RED: Royal Red dragon fruit is a hybrid cultivar from the Philippines and is known for its being grown as a commercial crop in Asia due to its large fruits and high brix score close to 20. The best characteristic of this variety is it is one of the few red-fleshed varieties that are self-fertile. The original cutting was imported directly from Three Lucky Mountains (TLM) dragon fruit farm in the Philippines. TLM ZORRO: The TLM Zorro dragon fruit variety is a new cultivar created by Three Lucky Mountains (TLM) in the Philippines. The stem is similar to S8, but the fruit has much improved and is considerably bigger, weighing up to one pound, tolerant of both heat and cold, and self-pollinating. For your peace of mind, the original cutting of Zorro was imported directly from TLM, we are one of the very few in the US carrying this newly improved variety. PRIDE OF FALLBROOK (POF): POF dragon fruit is a variety cultivated in Fallbrook in northern San Diego, we acquired the POF cutting from a grower in San Diego who got it directly from Danny Loftus who used to work at Elk Creek Farm. POF has some white coating on the branch which can tolerate both heat and cold. The POF fruit weigh about 1 pound, purple flesh inside and very sweet, the brix score is at least 18 and up, and has a grape flavor with firm texture.
