For auction is a super rare original Frankart T-384 ashtray, described in Frankart’s catalog supplement as an “ecstatic nude”. The figure is sitting to one side, holding a metal tray that holds 2 black amethyst glass inserts. These original black amethyst glass inserts each have a little recess on one corner, most probably to rest a cigarette. Please note – this is not the T-383 normally seen at auctions. On the T-384, Frankart designed the base to look like 7 ashtrays sitting upside down for the nude to sit on. This piece is signed FRANKART INC PAT. APPLD FO on the back of the metal ashtray base. The metal ashtray comes in a Gun Metal Grey finish. It is in beautiful condition, so this is a repainted piece color-matched to Frankart’s original gun metal gray finish. The Frankart T-384 is in very good condition and is about 8 ¾” tall. The black amethyst glass inserts are about 3 ¼” long and about 2 ½” across at the top, and about 2-5/8” long and about 1-7/8” wide on the bottom. There is the typical roughness and tiny fleabites on the recesses of the inserts, all reflecting the vintage and usage. Pictures are an important part of the description - please carefully check all of them for condition.
