Description: Measuring about 5-1/2" x 8-1/4", and 287 pages long, this hardback book is the novel "The Chestnut Tree" by Evelyn Page. Published by the Vanguard Press, it is dated 1964, and, with no later edition stated, it is presumed to be the First Edition. The signature on the front free end paper appears to be that of the author, although I have no provenance, so no guarantees. The full text of the inscription is "For Charlotte Crane, a generous reader with whose opinions I can have no quarrel. Appreciatively, Evelyn Page." The book is in generally excellent condition, with just typical light surface and edge wear on the cover. There is, however, a hinge crack at the title page, which raises the possibility that a page is missing (either a fly leaf or a half-title) between the end paper and the title page. The dust jacket has some surface scuffs, and some chips and tears and creases around the edges.
