Description: Founded in Boston in 1880, the Emerson College of Oratory, is a non-profit higher education institution. It began as a school of elocution and dramatic arts but has evolved into an institution offering academic programs in communication, the arts, and the liberal arts that draws students from all over the world. It has satellite campuses in Los Angeles and the Netherlands with programs in Paris, France; Lugano, Switzerland; and Washington, D.C. Emerson's graduates have become leaders in publishing, advertising, entertainment, public relations, academia, and other areas of culture and enlightenment. The school was originally located in Boston's Pemberton Square. It has moved several times and is now located in the Theater District along the southside of the Boston Common. Emerson has played a significant role in reviving downtown Boston's famed Theater District and operates the historic Colonial, Paramount, and Cutler Majestic theaters, as well as several smaller performance venues. Offered for sale is the school's 1915 (vol. VIII) Yearbook--the Enmersonian. This copy belonged to Jeannie Pulaski ("Chivy") Smith of Charleston, SC. Her family lived in an eighteenth century house at 91 Broad Street, the city's main thoroughfare. (It is now a commercial building.) Smith was a popular student, as the yearbook contains numerous well wishes from classmates. The book contains the usual yearbook material. It has a flexible leather cover, measures approximately 7.5"x9.5," 147 pp. + 10 pp. of vintage advertisements. The covers are very worn/soiled and the front one is detached with pieces missing; pages worn around edges with some chipping; pages are lightly toned; numerous b/w ills.; the body of the book is still securely bound. Flawed but collectible (5 on scale of 10). Available in 2008 reprint edition but no copies of original available. SOLD AS IS. Don't be shy; give it a try. Doc deals!
