Description: Maker: It's indisputable: Limoges says quality. And T&V - Tressemann and Vogt - produced some of the world's finest and most beautiful Limoges porcelain. Design: This elegant rimmed soup bowl features a band of gold fretwork surrounding a pure white center. Its classic elegance would be compatible with many similar patterns by T&V and other high quality makers. Marks and age: The bowl has a green underglaze "Limoges France" white ware mark and the purple "T&V France" decorator's bell mark number 16a that was in use from 1907 to 1919. The mark confirms that it was produced for Dulin & Martin, the iconic Washington DC. china store. That means the bowl is at least 102 years old and perhaps older. Source: The Collector's Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain by Mary Frank Gaston, third edition. Condition: The bowl is in overall excellent condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, stains, repairs or crazing. There is significant wear to the gold edge; it's visible in the photos. Size: The bowl is 9 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches tall. It weighs 1 pound 2 ounces. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
