Description: Overview: Up for sale is this fantastic woodblock print, "The Large Buddha of Todaiji Temple in Nara," which unsurprisingly depicts the iconic giant buddha in Nara's Todaiji Temple. It's a fantastic rendering of the scene. This print was produced by Eiichi Kotozuka. Kotozuka was born in Kyoto and was one of the major forces in the shin hanga movement. He, along with Tokuriki, Tobei and Tasaburo formed the Koryokusha publishing company in an effort to break free of the major publishing companies. This print was part of a six-print series called, "Scenes of Shiga, Nara and Kyoto," which dates to the 1950s. It comes in the original folio backing. It would make an excellent addition once framed to any art collection. Print is unframed. Condition: The print is in very good condition. Minor discoloration on top of matting. See description and photos Measurements: Print measures approximately 11 inches wide x 8.25 inches high. Folio backing measures 13.75 inches wide x 10 inches high.
