The book it is reasonably good condition for its 120 years. The covers show fairly minor general handling as seen in the photos. The binding is somewhat rolled, as well as cracked at both endpapers; no loose pages. The text has a number of corner creases and scattered small stains. A small bruise to the top text edge has left small tears to half a dozen leaves. Not an ideal copy, but still a true first of an American classic, made even more valuable by the rare signature.
