Description: Dragon Armor M4A1 (76W) VVSS Sherman Medium Tank No. 60292, Vintage year - 2006, Scale - 1:72 Unit - 2nd Armored Regiment, Polish 1st Armored Division - The Polish 1st Armored Division (Polish 1 Dywizja Pancerna) was an armored division of the Polish Armed Forces in the West during WWII. It was created in Feb. 2942 at Duns in Scotland and was commanded by Maj. General Stanislaw Maczek and at its peak numbered approximately 18,000 soldiers. The division served in the final phases of the Battle of Normandy in Aug. 1944 during Operation Totalize and the Battle of Chambois and then continued to fight throughout the campaign in Northern Europe, mainly as part of the First Canadian Army. Campaign - Holland 1944 - After the Normandy break-out, the Polish 1st Armored Division pursued the Germans along the coast of the English Channel. It liberated, among others, the towns of Saint-Omer, Ypres, Oostnieuwkerke, Roeselare, Tielt, Ruislede, and Ghent. During Operation Pheasant, a successful outflanking manoeuver planned and performed by Gen. Maczek allowed the liberation of the city of Breda without any civilian casualties (29 Oct. 1944). The Division spent the winter of 1944-45 on the south bank of the Rhine, guarding a sector around Moerdijk, Netherlands. In early 1945, it was transferred to the province of Overijssel and started to push with the Allies along the Dutch-German border, liberating the eastern parts of the provinces of Drenthe and Groningen including the towns of Emmen, Coevorden and Stadskanaal. Markings - Olive drab camouflage with white star and yellow diamond on hull and division logo. Has Polish insignia (PL) and symbol for 1st Armored (helmet and wings of Polish hussars) on rear fender. Has No. 52 in red and yellow diamond including picture of a cow on the side. Model - the M4A1 was an earlier model with a continental radial engine, a one-piece cast hull and a 75 mm barrel canon. This version was upgraded with a cast hull, a 76 mm M1 gun and the VVSS (Vertical Volute Spring) Suspension. Condition - new with minor shelf wear on cardboard box Thank you for your interest.
