Description: During the Great Depression, handmade quilts featuring butterfly appliques were especially popular because the cheerful pattern flew in the face of economic hardship. Flour and feed companies began using pretty fabrics for their bags when it became known that seamstresses were upcycling the bags into clothing and quilts. The butterflies on this quilt were cut from such fabrics. At 71.5" x 62", this quilt is not a standard size. Because it's slightly too large to be the standard size for a toddler bed and slightly too small to be the standard size for a twin bed, it makes a cozy, comfortable throw or a striking display piece for lovers of country living, southern living, and Appalachian style. Please look at the photos carefully as there is some slight damage to the quilt. Most noticeable is the sun-bleaching on the back. Ink marks around the border and a few tiny holes (which could be mended) are not very noticeable, but they are shown in the photos.
