David Yellowhorse PUMA Deer Hunter folding knife.

Description: Up for sale is an early David Yellowhorse, embellished PUMA Deer Hunter knife with one of David's early original sheaths.Early in David's career, he worked on some Puma Knives. This is one of those early Puma knives. In an article in Knife Magazine of October, 2019 David discusses working on Bucks, Pumas and Explorer knives in the early to mid 80's. I have included a screen capture of an excerpt from that online article. The Puma date stamp on the lock bar (39382), dates the knife to 1983. The same time period David states he worked on this brand.Puma knives at the time sold for much more than a Buck knife. This is a rare Yellowhorse piece. The knife is 4" closed and the blade is 3". The blade opens smoothly and locks up firmly in place. Good opening and closing snap.The brass bolsters have embellishments on one side. The handle of the knife is embellished on both sides with turquoise, Mother of pearl and obsidian. David's file and stone work is renowned, and this early piece is a great example. I listed this as new, as to my knowledge it was not carried or sharpened.The sheath has a unique gold-colored snap casting and it opens and snaps closed perfect. The sheath flap also has an inset turquoise stone and other embellishments. The sheath alone is a work of art and was handmade by David. His initials are stamped on the back of the sheath belt strap. I have occasionally searched the internet for another like this set, and they are extremely hard to come by. There are many David Yellowhorse Buck knives listed on ebay. Try finding another David Yellowhorse Puma from the early 1980s with the original sheath. I will try and answer any questions sent to me in a timely manner.
