Description: 1967 France 5 Francs Banknote Pick Number 146b Louis Pasteur Good Very Fine For your World Currency Collection-PCU2057 Details Description: A good very fine or better banknote from France. This is the May 5, 1967 five francs or Cinq Francs. The banknote is brown and purple and multicolored with the image of Louis Pasteur, the famous French scientist who developed the process of pasteurization, to the left of the front. The image of Pasteur is in shades of brown and purple with a multicolored face to the left of center on the front. The front also depicts the Pasteur Institute building in Paris to the right. The back of the note has the same color scheme as the front and has the image of Pasteur to the right and a laboratory set-up in the center with the image of a man fighting a rabid dog to the left. This particular note has the serial number 0148200301 and is series H.60. The note also has the number 00301 in the bottom left corner of the front. It is dated M.5-5-1967.M and has three signatures on the front; Tondu, Morant, and Bouchet. The banknote has a water mark depicting the head of bearded man (Pasteur?) facing left in the white circle in the center of the front. Please carefully review the scans presented as they are part and parcel of our description. Date: May 5, 1967. Printer: Bank of France. Size: The banknote measures ~5 1/2" by ~3". Pick Number: P 146b and is listed in the Banknote Book as B1004b. Condition: I would grade this banknote as very fine or much better with all the details being very well preserved. The note has vertical folds, a horizontal fold, general wrinkling, and creases at the corners. It is lightly soiled with no objectionable staining. It has no pinholes, which is a miracle for French banknotes. It has no tears, no splits, and the corners are squared and sharp with minimum rounding but some bumps and creases. The piece still has some of its original crispiness. A nice note to add to your collection. Please see photo for additional condition information.
