CONDITION: Consolidated produced the Love Bird pattern in the 1920s and early 30s as part of the Martelé line. The book "PHOENIX & CONSOLIDATED ART GLASS 1926-1980" by Jack D. Wilson lists this piece as rare. Consolidated made, a more commonly found powder jar that matches this lovely piece. This amazing box is in Super Nice Condition. The bottom is without chips, cracks or flaws. The lid has some very minor roughness in on the inner rim. This is not evident, but we try to be as thorough as possible when listing an item that you cannot hold and look at yourself. You have to lift the lid and look very closely to be able to discern any of these tiny blemishes. This may have happened in production. It is doubtful that this box will be found in better shape. Our pictures are very good. Please check them out. They will show you what to expect. The color is fantastic. The wash is applied so that the love bird figures are enhanced / high-lighted. The quality and workmanship is incredible. This antique glove box from Consolidated / Phoenix Martelé line would be a unique addition to any collection. Martelé (1926-1932 / 1936 - 1940) - The Martelé line was designed by Reuben Haley for the Consolidated Lamp & Glass Company. There were 9 different covered boxes that he designed for this line pictured in the 1931 catalog. A powder jar and a glove box were both made in the Love Bird pattern.
