Description: This particular lamp was produced by the Consolidated Lamp and Glass Co of Coraopolis, Ohio. The company originally formed in Fostoria, Ohio but two years later the factory burned, hence the move to Coraopolis. For many years this company was known for producing lamps and lighting fixtures. A popular style they are famous for was the colored satin glass of which they made several patterns of miniature, full-size and hanging lamps. These miniature lamps have become a prize in the collecting world. Several reasons can attribute to this popularity, one being their age and the fact that many have lost or damaged parts. Another would be the miniature size which they were used for lighting back at the turn of the 20th century. The company evidently had several different molds for the artichoke pattern shade, as well as a number of different bases. This fine example has a full size globe shade exhibiting the artichoke leaves of the bloom. The base has a ribbed pattern with a fancy foot. Often these miniature lamps are found in cased glass, ie an inter layer of opaque white with an outer colored layer. This one shows only pink possibly with clear glass visible on the foot of the base. The lamp stands 8 3/4” to the top of the clear chimney and measures 4 1/2” across the widest girth of the base, a little less diameter of the shade. The burner has P&A Mfg Co visible. In remarkable condition for its age, I see very little if any chipping on the shade or the chimney. One picture shows interior bubble on base. Has no wick as the old wick was quite deteriorated upon acquisition. A super fine example of early lighting. please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description. Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery, and porcelain in the near future. Thank you.
