Description: THE CONCORD 5aka History of the Concord Banking Co. Here's a really neat find from Historic Treasures....5 different bank draft varieties hand signed by the Cashier of the Concord Banking Co. during or before WW1! At the time, this area of North Georgia was an agricultural hub - 30,000 acres were under cultivation by the R.F. Strickland Company which owned the town's General Store (today an arts and cultural center, and wedding venue!). The bank's 1908 financial report showed only $28.28 out of over $78,000 in loans to be "doubtful". Here are the various types you will receive at the "concordant" price of a mere $1.19: 1) Light Yellow Draft with logo, red serial number, red Maddox-Rucker Banking Co. Atlanta Georgia overprint at bottom left. 2) Dark Yellow Draft with logo, hand written serial number, bold black American National Bank over the above overprint. 3) Jumbo Orange Draft with Rays emanating across surface from Spread Wing Eagle at bottom center. Red Serial Number and red National Bank of Commerce New York City overprint at lower left. 4) Same as last but with a red American National Bank Atlanta Georgia overprint, which may in turn have a purple Atlanta National Bank rubber stamp above it 5) Same as last but without an imprint or overprint at the lower left. To make things even more interesting, endorsement stamps of other banks appear on some or all backs of these drafts. So whenever you think of a Georgia Peach, you'll now think of these Georgia peach (and apricot) colored financial gems of 115 to 120 years ago.
