Description: 19th Century Scottish/English enamel glazed Carpet Ball. Excellent vintage condition in keeping with age and use. One small area of damage to enamel on back of ball. Cream colored base with classic sponge design in purple/lavender. Approximately 3” in diameter. Beautiful decor item alone or as part of a collection. Carpet bowling was an indoor game popular in Scotland and England between 1860-1880. The game is similar to bowling or boules but played indoors. Balls were made of ironstone in a variety of different patterns and colors. Vintage balls display signs of use and wear. Silver base not included. Measurements are approximate.
