All freshly serviced new fluids and filters. This is an electronically controlled diesel engine, but no troublesome and expensive DEF fluid system. No oil leaks, fully serviced, this rig drives like a dream. The gearing of this coach is just perfect. At 60 MPH the engine is running at peak torque (865 Ft Lbs) RPM. I routinely saw 9+ miles per gallon pulling a heavy Toad. I put 30 k miles on it during my long ownership. Up and down the Pacific coast. My receipts show many thousands of major repairs and replacements early in my ownership. I sorted it out, to perfection, my pride and joy. It’s very solid, and mechanically proven. a great chassis as well. Best diesel to have in a coach is the Cat 3126e. This was one of the last Cat engine coaches from a good manufacturer. The Cat engines remain too expensive to this day for mainstream coaches. I am not a diesel mechanic, I do own and have owned several. I am a fan of diesel power. Cummins is a light duty diesel engine, Caterpillar makes medium and heavy duty engines only.Michelin radials on the coach itself with polished aluminum rims. Lots of tread. They are old. Not weathered. Not comfortable with driving a rig the size of a city bus? The custom crafted driver vision system makes handling this big rig easy. Front, rear and side view hi def cameras are constantly displayed on the monitor. Total awareness of traffic to the rear and both sides of the vehicle. The system is also a perimeter video monitoring system and dashcam, just add a memory card. Of course an auto transmission, power steering, power brakes, and cruise control.PAC brake system, works great to save brake linings, it is switchable. Two of us full timed in it for several of those years. It is well maintained and everything works. We are clean folks, non smokers.Very efficient rig, I will miss driving it. It’s very economical. All about the gear ratio, and maintaining 55-60 MPH. Reasonable climbing a grade, not the slowest, not the fastest. I pulled a heavy toad, no issues.Over 200 K now for a new one, and you get to sort out all the warranty issues. That is a much bigger issue than you would think, read and research first! Buy this loaded coach and keep the rest in the bank. Caterpillar engine, no longer available in coaches, too expensive. It’s an efficient, turbocharged, software controlled diesel engine. No DEF fluid to buy! I’ve always used Power Service fuel treatment, fuel in the tank is treated and cetane enhanced always. It’s always been stored full, which minimizes diesel fuel degradation.How a diesel engine is driven and treated by the operator is a really critical factor, much more so than other power sources. It’s a lot of money, feel free to have an oil analysis done, bring it to a Cat service center and they can show you the stored history, it’s a software controlled engine. That software can also save the owners bacon. A modern Cat diesel engine won’t hurt itself, it will reduce fuel flow or shut down before catastrophic damage occurs. The powertrain in this coach is in excellent used condition. Believe it or not, you can carve up a mountain road in this coach, it really does handle like a (really big) sports car. It’s the weight and chassis design, the powertrain, the holding tanks, everything heavy is BELOW the giant C beam frame rails that extend from the front to the rear. Ohh and 6 big radials, lots of grip While the coach does great, the cargo and passengers...not so much. Spirited driving will result in a very unhappy domestic partner, because you scrambled the contents of their carefully packed, handcrafted Amish solid walnut cabinetry.The 4 bag Freightliner is the chassis you want. You can’t buy a 330 HP Caterpillar coach new today, the engine itself is too costly. It’s just a perfect combination.Please don't be a flake like the last two dreamers.
