Description: CLA'D & Tested Steinheil Munchen Macro Tele Quinar 135/2.8 M42 Lens Used Glass TRIVIA: Rare and collectible small format vintage camera lens produced by legendary Steinheil Munchen Germany. The lens was primarily targeted for the US market so the items are particularly rare to find within Europe (it has cost around $150 back in the day, while its expensive development never really paid off for the Munich based company). With 135mm this would be the longest member of series of four macro lenses. The lens is mechanically very sophisticated and outwardly beautiful - having double helicoid (patented for a certain period of time), extremely long helicoid rotation to nail precise focus and and minimum focus distance around 40 cm (I believe perhaps even less on digital with adapter). It was originally used mainly on Praktica 35mm film SLRs (such lenses more commonly available for Exa/Exakta cameras slightly more annoying to adapt than my M42 screw item). Steinheils' main goal was to bring the maximum possible approximation without additional macro rings, macro bellows, pseudo macro filters etc.ITEM CONDITION: An item used previously, works. The lens is after a complete overhaul by a paid prof. technician (Jan 2024). Sony A7RII tested OK wide open at f/2.8. Cosmetically and mechanically in excellent condition.Lenses without major scratches or fog but typically suffering from degradation/slow deteroriation of the coating (anti-reflective layers) of all glasses over their entire surface (the Achilles heel of lenses from the 'Steinheil family') - practically unreparable thing. I believe extensive front coating fungus has come into play somewhere in the past as well as a 'bonus' but I did not witness this in my hands, just 'read' it from current coating condition. According to cursory tests, this practically does not affect the performance of the lens, it is a very sharp, very high-contrast macro lens - one of the most powerful in its time - with a very nice drawing. It is probably best to see the photo collages under the lamp, I am attaching many of them into the gallery. ADAPTATION: Look for M42 to Sony E, FX, M4/3, ... adapters here on eBay (or ask for an extra one prior to purchase).TESTING: Done as above.ACCESSORIES: Lens caps and original metallic hood. This is a private sale with no returns or refunds, hence I describe anything imaginable I found or noticed to avoid controversy and possible misdescription. If something really stresses me, it is an eBay return from the other part of the planet! If you feel there is something I missed or did not mention please contact me before the purchase for possible answers. Worldwide shipping from Czech Rep., EU thru priority, trackable, insured parcel (no package undervaluing). For more pricey speedy shipping outside EU - FedEx, UPS etc. - kindly go ask in advance, everything is usually doable. Buyers from neighbouring or close countries to Czechia kindly quote for updated cheaper invoice prior to purchase if realistic.
