Description: A large and heavy censer with a good simple look and a celadon crackle glaze that would go well with modern design. The glaze is thick, unctuous, smooth, shiny, and crackled. The interior of the censer shows the potter’s wheel rib marks under the glaze. The inside well shows iron oxide red with beads of celadon. The base has had an iron dressing and three stepped feet. The bottom of the feet are unglazed. Provenance: From a large collection of crackle glazed porcelain collected in China by a westerner between 1960 and 1980. MEASUREMENTS 5.75'' (14.6 cm) tall x 7.25'' (18.4 cm) diameter. Weighs 3 lbs 11.5 oz (1685 g) CONDITION There is a repaired break near the mouth rim. The glaze shows wear and light crazing. There are kiln flaws, such as a few pin holes. Also, one side of the censer was burned slightly during the firing process. I love how the glaze feels so very thick and soft.
