This isn't strictly a blues album -- most of the tunes don't have a 12-bar blues structure -- but because it's so rootsy and down-home, it ended up being placed in blues bins. And, to be sure, you'll find a lot of blues feeling on such earthy offerings as "Open Up the Door," "Wrong Kind of Man" (which Natasha wrote herself), and the Doc Pomus / Dr. John compositions "Tell Me What You're Gonna Do," "Nightbird" and "The Night Is a Hunter." Although its New Orleans influence is hard to miss, this CD was recorded in New York -- not the Crescent City -- and was produced by Chesky Records founder David Chesky. This album is competent and satisfying. ~ Alex Henderson An extraordinary performer does not easily remain unnoticed even if the musician in question got her inauspicious start pedaling her talents on the streets of New York. This unlikely venue though, became the very key to the enormous success Natasha now enjoys. One lucky day John Hammond, credited with discovering the greatest artists of our generation (Billie Holiday, Bob Dylan, Janis Joplin, Bruce Springstein, to name a few), caught her curbside act and the rest is history. This listing is for a very rare audiophile CD title - a FACTORY SEALED CD PRESSED and ISSUED by CHESKY Records of a highly collectible title from their CD catalog, featuring - Natasha Turner CD Title - Natasha Track Listing -1. The CD, JEWEL CASE AND INSERT are all assumed to be in MINT overall condition as this item is actually FACTORY SEALED - this item could be a re-sealed CD from the manufacturer/distributor as the outer plastic shrink wrap is different (thicker) than what we have normally seen on Chesky CDs. This CD is an audiophile quality pressing (any collector of fine MFSL, half speeds, direct to discs, Japanese/UK pressings etc., can attest to the difference a quality pressing can make to an audio system). Do not let this rarity slip by!
