Description: This is a custom 1/6 scale, 12" figure commemorating one of the American heroes of WWI, Captain Edward "Eddie" Rickenbacker, Ace pilot of the US 94th Aero Squadron (he would lead the Hat in the Ring squadron). To be an ace a pilot had to have confirmed five enemy planes shot down in combat. Eddie had 26 confirmed. Rickenbacher was born in Columbus, Ohio on October 8th, 1890 and died July 23rd, 1973. Eddie was the third of eight children born to german speaking Swiss immigrants Lizzie and Wilhelm Rickenbacher (Eddie later changed the spelling and took the middle name Vernon). Rickenbacker would become the leading ace pilot of the US forces in WWI. Eddie was also a race car driver and became the leader of Eastern Airlines for many years. Rickenbacker was granted the Medal of Honor for his service in WWI. Captain Eddie Rickenbacker was a very interesting historical figure. please note while this figure does not look exactly like Captain Eddie Rickenbacker there is a nice resemblance. This figure is designed mainly for display purposes for the WWI history buff. please note that this figure is fairly poseable and displays well.This would make a nice addition to any collection. sold as is. stand included.
