This late 18th to early 19th century chamber candlestick features a lustrous Sheffield Plate! Made by master metalsmith Matthew Boulton of Birmingham, England, this piece is elegant in its simplicity yet enduringly beautiful! The candlestick features a pushup knob, which makes removing a candle a breeze! This piece is stamped with a crest: a demi-lion rampant with wreath in paws. The piece is stamped on the bottom “SILVER BORDERS” with Boulton’s sun touchmark. This piece is Sheffield plated, silver over copper. This piece likely, at one time, was associated with a snuffer that is no longer with the piece. Condition: This candlestick is in EXCELLENT condition! The silver has some light signs of use and wear consistent with age. Some of the edges have been polished through; although, this is not readily obvious. Some flux around the handle attachment is also visible.
