c. 1930's Marx "Sparkling Doughboy Tank" Tin Litho Windup

Description: Offered for sale is this great example of the "Sparkling Pop-up Doughboy Tank" lithographed tin windup toy, manufactured sometime in the 1930's by Louis Marx & Co. The toy measures about 10" long x 4" wide x 4 7/8" high and is in excellent working condition: There is very light play wear on the top, sides, front and rear, and is without issue other than a small dent low down on the rear (visible in the photos) and some small scratches and spots of discoloration/oxidation on the bottom. The lithography is still very bright and shiny, and there is no damage other than indicated. Though the key has been lost somewhere along the line, testing confirms that the tank works just as it should: wind it up and it motors down the road, reverses direction and runs a little further, reverses direction again and repeats that action. Meanwhile, the tank hatch opens and closes periodically allowing a doughboy with rifle to emerge, (to fire on the enemy) then retreat. We do not observe the sparkling action so not sure if it is still functional. The toy is all original, has stood up amazingly well given its age and thus displays wonderfully. Please check the photos and video carefully (we recommend using the magnifying function) as they do a better job than we can of describing the piece.
