The gradient-style "Tequila Sunrise" finish was inspired by a lush sunrise over tropical waters and enhances the natural beauty of the solid Myrtlewood used for the top, back, and sides. Breedlove has been one of the main guitar manufacturers leading the way in building instruments from sustainably sourced exotic and native tonewoods for many years now. They never use "clear-cut" wood, choosing to instead salvage fallen timber or individually harvest trees to minimize impact on the forest. Using Myrtlewood as a main tonewood in their guitars has proven to be one of their most successful strategies in accomplishing this goal as it has become very popular among many players who love its unique look and sound. Myrtlewood, while native to Oregon's Pacific coast (where Breedlove is located), is considered by some to be the most 'exotic' of all tonewoods.
