Pages are deeply toned but unmarked and undamaged, (a few dog eared pages as shown in photos). 623 pages. 6 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/2"History of early mission field editions of the Book of Mormon:"10,000 copies of the Book of Mormon were published by the Central States Mission, permission being granted for this edition to Elder Duffin by the Presidency of the Church in November 1901. This edition was printed at Kansas City, the printing being done by Burd & Fletcher Printing Co. The first delivery was made May 8th, 1902. It was through the publishing of this edition of this sacred book that the great work of distribution of the Book of Mormon throughout the United States since that time was commenced.It is due the Elders of the Mission to state that furnished out of their private means $1200.00 towards the cost of printing, and in return for this amount they were furnished a splendidly cloth bound book at forty cents per copy, or in other words they were furnished 25 copies for each $10.00 furnished by them.This was the first edition of the Book of Mormon published by any mission in the United States and the first published by the Church outside of Utah and within the confines of the United States, since the Church located in Utah.Of this edition of the Book of Mormon, 5608 copies were sent to the other missions in the United States.The second edition published in the missions - the one following that published in Kansas City, Missouri, was jointly gotten out by the Northern States Mission, the Bureau of Information at Salt Lake City and the Central States Mission. This edition was printed by Henry C. Etten & Co. Chicago, Illinois. It was a 10,000 edition. Out of this edition the Central States Mission paid for 1,500 copies, making the total of 11,500 as per former statement of the number of Books of Mormon published by the mission."Central States Mission, Elder James G.
