Description: Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati – Exclusive Restoration – Catholic Art Print – Archival Quality Blessed Pier Giorgio FrassatiExclusive Restored PhotographHandsome and athletic, Pier Giorgio Frassati (1901–1925) was also dedicated to God from his childhood and an ardent supporter of the poor. Although he only lived twenty-four years, he performed many good works in his home of Turin, Italy. So much so that at his funeral, his family was greatly surprised when thousands of poor people came to pay their respects. He helped many people in his short life, gave a lot of love, and many loved him. This picture made us happy because it shows his love of the outdoors, and how fresh he was in his strength. This is from some ski race he was in. He spent a lot of time in the mountains with friends, skiing and rock climbing. One day in late June 1925, he was struck with pain and great fatigue while in the mountains. His friends helped him back to his home. It was polio, a severe case, and within a week he had passed away. The throng in Turin urged for his cause as a Saint. Rome took up the cause and investigated. When his remains were moved to the Turin Cathedral in 1981, they were found to be incorrupt. A miracle cure of someone who was praying to him helped St. Pope John Paul II declare him Blessed in 1990, calling Pier the "Man of the Eight Beatitudes." His Feast Day is July 4, an easy date for us to remember. He is a Patron Saint of Students and Young Catholics, as well as mountaineers.
