Description: Vtg Blenko Floor Vase #6928 Turquoise 1967 Joel Myers 23.5". Joel Philip Myers was hired by Blenko Glass without training in either glass design or crafting. But as Director of Design from 1963 to 1970, Myers learned on the job much of what he would need to eventually become a proficient artist=designer in glass. Many of his designs for Blenko are among the must sought after by collectors today. His exaggerated tall floor vases, his series with air-twist inclusions in paperweight stoppers, his vessels with applied spirals, and his creative use of molded decoration are but a few of his cool sixties designs that came to exemplify Blenko in particular and modern handmade production glass in general. Myers is one of the most pioneers of the studio glass movement.
