Description: "Birmingham Police" Beaufort whistle by Dowler. Birmingham Police switched to tube whistles at the end of the 19th century. This Beaufort style whistle was therefore used before this date, probably 1890s. It was made by W. Dowler and Sons and a similar one, numbered "377" is illustrated in "More Whistles" by Martyn Gilchrist. This one is "369" and is a duplicate from my own collection. Overall condition is excellent, with some surface marks that could probably be removed if desired. Working well. Postage quoted is for the UK. Second Class signed for.
