Betta Mahachaiensis hybrid blue (Betta Mahachai)| Rare Bettas

Description: Betta Mahachaiensis hybrid blue (Betta Mahachai)| Rare Bettas Betta Splendens Complex. IUCN Red List: N/A Betta Mahachaiensis Betta mahachaiensis is a relatively new species of betta fish discovered in 2012 in the Samut Sakhon Province of Thailand. It is a member of the Betta splendens group but exhibits distinct characteristics that set it apart. Physical Characteristics Body: Slender and elongated compared to the more common Betta splendens. Reaches a maximum length of approximately 5-6 cm (2-2.4 inches). Coloration: Males exhibit a striking iridescent blue pattern on a brown-black background. Females are generally browner with hints of blue. Fins: Fins are typically brown to black with iridescent blue interradial membranes. Dorsal fin often has black transverse bars. Caudal fins lack any red margins. Fins are typical spadetail but can often be roundtail. Opercular membrane: Lacking the red streaks or patches common in other Betta species. Instead, it has two parallel iridescent blue vertical bars. The parallel iridescent bar is what distinct this species from its splendens relative. Habitat: Found in brackish waters with salinity levels between 1.1 and 10.6 parts per thousand. Notably, this species can tolerate both freshwater and brackish environments. WE ONLY SELECT healthy high quality fish to ship out, that mean old fish or fish with any signs of disease or weakness will NOT be selected to be sold. ALL of our fish go through 2 or more weeks of quarantine before being sold. Quarantine period consist of medication to remove parasites such as velvet and ich. All males come from the same lineage and are generally similar. Basic Information Temperament: Males are VERY aggressive and should be kept alone or in tanks with non-male betta mates. Can be kept in a planted community tank of multiple females if there is adequate space. Max Size: 2.3 inches TDS: 60 - 200 (We keep them in soft water with low TDS to match our other wild bettas but they are more tolerant of water conditions.) pH: 6.0 Temperature : 75-85 (much better coloration at warmer temperature above 78 degrees) Diet: Carnivorous, we currently feed them live blackworms, frozen bloodworms and pellets. Breeding: Bubblenester Betta Mahachaiensis hybrid blue (Betta Mahachai)| Rare Bettas Betta Splendens Complex.
