Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE BEAUTIFUL CROSMAN SSP-250 SILHOUETTE TARGET CO2 PELLET PISTOL .22 CAL – in good to very good cosmetic and perfect operating condition. Includes a tough-to-find new spare .22 loading port and .22 loading port seal, and a reprinted owner’s manual and exploded parts diagram. I have five of these (I will need to reseal one before listing) so just selling because it’s sad that they don’t get more use. I am second owner of this airgun (purchased July 2014) and it was professionally cleaned, lubed, and resealed in July 2014 and it has no issues holding CO2 over 3 days before I just shot the rest of the CO2 out of it. This one has the serial number of 689202331 and all SSP-250s were made from 1989-1995. The SSP-250 was the forerunner of the Crosman 1701P Silhouette PCP, 2300S Silhouette, 2300T Target, and the 22XX series pistols. One of the claims to fame of this pistol design is the easily changed barrels/loading ports between .177, .20, and .22 and it was designed to be that way. The other claim to fame is that is has two cocking knob power settings -- it can be cocked for low power to get more shots (probably no one really does this..heh, heh) or higher power but fewer shots. Lower velocities yield higher shot counts, which may be desirable for economical indoor paper punching. The SSP-250 uses a single 12gm CO2 cartridge with the piercing pin in the CO2 tube. This listing has one of the nicest finishes of the four currently listed and otherwise is 80% or better, the grips show some minor wear as shown in the pics, and some bits of paint worn off on one barrel band as in pics, and there is a tiny bit of surface rust on the cocking knob which can be brushed away – PLEASE STUDY THE PICS OF THIS (AND ANY) LISTING CLOSELY. This pistol is priced somewhat higher than the other SSP-250 .177 listing with the more prevalent surface/finish rust because of the overall condition, known reseal date, and a spare loading port/seal. It has a 9-7/8” rifled barrel and weighs about 48 ounces to make it heavier pistol and some people find it a bit front heavy though it never was an issue for my shooting. It has a fixed front blade sight and a rear sight that’s adjustable for both windage and elevation and is both a reversible notch and peephole blade. The SSP-250 does not really have an adjustable trigger but some people do make modifications. There is plenty of info about this iconic airgun on the web – most likely if you are interested in buying this pistol you likely already know quite a bit about it. PLEASE NOTE that this pistol normally has a hooded front sight (a black sheet metal slide-on removable hood – removable so as not to possibly interfere with scopes, red dots, etc. – this one DOES NOT have the hood. These often get misplaced and this was missing when I bought it. Some people just manufacture their own but I’ve ordered two from Canada (they are hard to find) and will sell them on E-bay if they arrive after this listing sells and will make that listing available to you ONLY IF you request that I do so. FYI…I have two other listings that do include the front-sight hood. This model does have a steel breech with a 3/8” dovetail for mounting scopes and red dots. Additionally, like most Crosman pistols with this grip frame, the grips can be easily removed to add the readily available plastic stock to make this pistol into a nice carbine. This is a single-shot pistol with a swing out pellet loader and likes .22 wadcutters best but will shoot .22 domes as well. The grips are plastic. It is rather powerful (and loud) for a .22 CO2 pistol as were pistols of this era. Each of the three caliber barrels for this model has its own respective caliber loader port and they must match if you plan to purchase them and can find them. Before selling, I have tested this for at least 3 days and this pistol has not lost any CO2 – after that I have expelled the CO2 and removed the CO2 cartridge to prevent damage to the face seal. You can expect velocities with 14.3gr pellets on the high-power setting as high as 475fps (avg. 460fps) and the low-power setting around 375fps (average 340fps) at 70 degrees, though as with all CO2 guns, their operation is temperature dependent. These models were also amazingly accurate producing possible sub-0.5-inch groups at 25 feet. This is also a louder pistol than many today! MODEL SSP-250 CO2 PISTOL SPECIFICATIONS from the manual: · Mechanism type: Single-shot, CO2 pull rear bolt. · Caliber: .22 · Weight: 3 lbs. · Overall Length: 14 inches · Sights: Fully adjustable open rear sight, windage & elevation · Undercut ramp front sight · Sight Radius: 9-23/32” · Barrel Length: 9-7/8” · Power Source: One Crosman 12-gram Powerlet, 900 P.S.I, at 72 degrees F. · Number Shots per Powerlet: 30+ useful shots on high power, and up to 70 shots on low power · Muzzle Velocity: with 14.3 gr pellets: 475 fps with High, 375 fps with low at 70° This pistol is in perfect operating condition and it just needs a new home that will give it more use than I give it. A nice addition to your pistol collection and fun to shoot. The pistol is in otherwise good cosmetic condition for its age other than what was detailed earlier in the listing -- all my pistols listed (unless specified otherwise) are clean and in perfect working condition. NO LEAKS and holds CO2 for at least 3 days as per testing before selling. It’s normally not recommended to store CO2 cartridge pistols with engaged cylinders for more than a short time as it may cause face seal damage. Always use 2-3 drops of Pellgun Oil (or ATF will work) onto the face seal or tip of the CO2 cartridge to keep the seals fresh as the oil disperses through the CO2 gun - you CANNOT over-oil a CO2 gun! The SSP-250 still has some available parts, accessories, and complete seal kits ($20) from various vendors and they are relatively easy to maintain and repair if/when needed. A great training tool for handling of pistols and firearm safety !!! Before selling, I have tested this for over 3 days and this pistol has not lost any CO2. **FREE ECONOMY SHIPPING !! I am also on the former Yellow Forum BOI and the current Airgun Warriors BOI as both an airgun seller and buyer with all positive feedback. If you’re looking for a beat-up, abused airgun at a giveaway price – my airgun listings are not for you – I am not desperate for cash so please do not send messages with silly lowball prices. Again, no returns or refunds! Unfortunately, there are too many scammers getting airguns (especially vintage ones) and removing parts from them then trying to return the airgun... so, in no way, shape or form do I accept returns as stated...if you can't abide by these simple terms, this listed item is not for you!!! IF YOU BUY IT, YOU NOW OWN IT AND YOU MAY FEEL FREE TO RESELL IT ACCORDINGLY. I have shipped airguns to many parts of the world and they are extremely well packed. I truly regret that these terms may appear harsh to some but unfortunately my experience with dealings in today's world has necessitated these terms for my own protection. As you can see, I do as much research as I can on each listing and attempt to describe it as accurately as possible - - the buyer will need to assume all risk so DO NOT purchase unless you agree to these terms! Please ask all the questions you like prior to purchasing as my policy is full disclosure to the best of my knowledge for the listing. Please be sure to research the airgun yourself to make sure this is a good fit for you and keep in mind that many vintage airguns or "higher-end" airgun listings may not be the best choice for novice or inexperienced airgunners. As with all airguns I sell, it sold as-is and there are no guarantees on seals. With older airguns the seals can fail anytime especially not knowing when seals were changed last, if ever. If I have records that an airgun was resealed at a particular time I will disclose that, though I may not have actual records remaining. For privacy reasons I CANNOT disclose the names or contact information of my personal airgun tuners or airgunsmiths and I only do basic maintenance on my own airguns. I attempt to provide full disclosure, maintain a good reputation in the airgun world, and do not/will not sell junk or malfunctioning airguns unless stated otherwise in detail. Thanks for looking and feel free to ask any questions or request further pics prior to purchasing!
