The book published by Little Brown & Co. between 1874 and 1884 was one of the greatest works on North American ornithology and began to replace Audubon's Ornithological Biography of 1831-1839 as the comprehensive go to resource. This is plate #2. While the book itself was a comprehensive exploration of the birds of North America, the plates in the book surpass description; clean, sharp and accurate.
