Description: Austin Healey / MGA Shelley Jack LJ225, non-reinforced collar BMC Part No. AHH 5986 Early Austin Healey/MGA Shelley Jack LJ225 w/ non-reinforced collar [yoke] It is rare to find any original Shelley jack in as nice condition as this one. It has been restored by a marque expert and Concours judge and is painted in the original orange red color. It looks and works like new. It would be a great addition to any Concours restoration. This is the early jack without the reinforcing collar around the yoke and as such was supplied in the toolkits of Austin Healey 3000 BT7, BN7 and BJ7 from about June 1960 (C.10565) to early BJ8 production (the change point to a similar jack with reinforced yoke is not known for certain but claimed by one eBay seller to be 1964). The LJ225 was never supplied with the 100-6 nor the 3000 Mk1. It was also supplied in the toolkit of MGA Deluxe, 1600, and 1600 Mark II from July of 1960 (car number 93548) to the end of production. It is marked "SHELLEY LJ 225" on one side, and CA265 BH PROV PAT" on the other side, and "CA259" cast into the top yoke. The handle was a 15-inch-long round bar painted black with a 45° bend 2 inches from the end (MGA) or an 18-inch-long round bar which was zinc plated (Austin Healey). Either handle can be supplied [or both] depending on the application, so just let me know at time of purchase. See "Original MGA" by Clausager page 34 and Anderson/Moment "Austin Healey Restoration Guide" page 133 for details. http://books.google.com/books?id=UbLua09mcjIC&pg=PA34&lpg=PA34&dq=original+mga+tool+kit&source=bl&ots=5M7ADs8zTI&sig=DerlVcfurHcNSxudPg_cjKc2pSk&hl=en&sa=X&ei=x5S6UKeKA4K3iwKdrYCoBA&ved=0CHMQ6AEwCQ#v=onepage&q=original%20mga%20tool%20kit&f=false http://www.mgaroadster.co.uk/shelley_jacks.htm. Safety Warning: All Shelley jacks are now old. I would strongly recommend that they are now used only for display purposes. If one is used for lifting a vehicle, the operator should never put them self underneath the supported area without additional load bearing equipment in place, such as jack stands or a well supported block of wood.
