The artists of the 1960es and 1980es introduced Armenian Art into the course of the 20th century, with European and American artistic tradition. Characterized by many-sidedness, vividness of the imagery, new forms of expression and synthesis of various arts H.Elibekian's works reveals a new aesthetics, accomplishes tasks that are new for Armenian Art. Born in Tbilisi, January 1936, studied acting, directing, sculpture, graphics, design and graduated from Yerevan's Fine Art & Theatrical Institute. He has been participating in national and international exhibitions since 1965. Henry Elibekian's art is displayed at the Art Gallery of Armenia, Modern Art Museum of Armenia, Moscow's National Museum, and at The State University of New Jersey in the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum. SELF PORTRAIT, 2006 by Henry Elibekian, is one of a series of self portraits, executed in 2006 and exhibited in Yerevan Armenia early that year. Mixed media, collage with gouache and oil on paper, measures 33x 62 cm, or 17" x 24", signed & dated by the artist.
