Description: This auction includes our new clear cover so you can see what is happening inside that siphon. I suggest you have at least one siphon with this clear cover for trouble shooting and for education and for just plain fun watching it. KIDS LOVE WATCHING IT almost as much as watching the fish. You may want to purchase any others with the standard bell top to save money. These take time to make and must be individually tested before we send them out as the different plastics are a bit hard to seal and we want you not to have to worry about that. We have had such good results with this simple design in our IBC aquaponics system for over two years now that we have decided to make them available for sale here in our Ebay store. This size is intended for an IBC grow bed (15 square feet ) but will probably work on a gb twice that volume. A very important advantage of our design is the ability to instantly change the water depth by simply dropping in various extensions in order to plant seeds, seedlings, or to flood the grow bed to drive out slugs, cut worms, etc., that love to move into your media. NO OTHER SIPHON ON EBAY ADDRESSES THIS IMPORTANT ABILITY. We use this function all the time. You are not locked into one water depth. We realize that many of you can make your own but it does take the right tools and pipe, etc which can really add up. Unless you are going to need 10 or more like we did, it may not pay to make your own. What you get is: One 4" slotted (very important and better than holes) pvc gravel shield 14" tall One 3" pvc bell with clear view top x 12" high with cap and pull handle, (looks very cool) One pair male and female threaded adapter with "o"ring to match for the bulkhead adapter Two 1" 90s One 7" and one 6" and one 4" pieces of 1" pvc pipe One 1" to 2" adapter for that very important "Bernoulli effect" Set of TWO extension rings for adjusting your water depth. Basically what you see in the second photo above. These are ready to go. All you do is slip them together and install them in your growbeds. NOTE: If you are putting these on a thick plywood grow bed base you will need a full size 1" bulkhead adapter as these threaded adapters are for the typical 1/8 to 1/4" plastic bottom. The best prices for those are at Alliedaqua. About 3.50 each. Just Google them. Excellent source for other parts as well. Cement not included and not necessary until it is "dialed in" The worst thing you can do is to glue things before they are all tested and ready to go permanent. Take my word for that:-) The first 2 that I made were about an inch too high for the 12" of gravel I planned to use. Having glued it up I would have to remove the gravel and all just to shorten the down tube. There is really no need to glue any of the parts located above the bulkhead fittings, just below. I have glued the top cap on the bell and the 2 pieces that form the funnel There is a video of the original testing I did on the siphon on YT under Fiskfarm. For example we now use lighter weight but just as strong 4" drain pipe for the gravel guard and 3" drain pipe for the bell tube in order to save you on shipping costs. We are using it in our system as well as we would never send out anything we have not tested ourselves. Also, anyone ordering 2 or more siphons will get a bonus set of extension tubes that will allow you to raise the water level in the grow bed not only 2" for media leveling, or 1.5" for starting seeds and small transplants as well as a 3" for flooding out any cut worms that invade your bed media.
