HB, 393 pgs + ads, Description: Famous spiritual autobiography of Dr Newman (later Cardinal), recounting his conversion from Anglicanism to Roman Catholicism, which occurred 20 years earlier. The book was occasioned by a pamphlet dispute with Charles Kingsley. The correspondence between the two is reprinted at the beginning of this volume. Condition: Book is in Acceptable condition, but frail. Flaws: spine is worn to the extent the title cannot be read, prior owner name on FEP, binding separation at page 3 (no loose pages), small spots on margin, Good points: book is not Exlib, I saw no writing or tears, no foxing. Editions: Note that there are both British and American publishers (Longman and Appleton). Longman published in 1864, Appleton in 1865. My copy is Appleton 1865 stated 3rd edition. Pricing: Buy-It-Now is $39 plus shipping cost of $6 (media mail insured). Provenance: this book is item #RH632, part of a book trove found in 2009. Reader's Heaven was a used bookstore that closed in Independence Missouri. I purchased the rights to sort through and purchase any of the remaining stock of the estimated 22,000 books. In the attic, back rooms and closets, boxes of books were found that had not been opened in decades. None of this stock had ever been offered on Ebay or elsewhere in the online marketplace. Other books from this hoard will follow on Ebay.
