Description: This Antique Wood and Wire Victorian Bird Cage is beautifully structured and a special decorative item in a Victorian themed home. Containing bird occupants or not, it is a beautiful decorative piece. A great collectible piece as well, it is a sure conversation starter! Intricately made of wood and wire, with a trap door on the bottom which is secured by small wire hooks, it is a perfect example of handmade Victorian design. It does not have a perch inside any longer, though one could easily be added, and there is no liner on the bottom, but this cage is a real antique , and probably would suit better as a home decor item now. It is a pleasant reminder of a gentler and slower paced time, when life was much less complicated and frantic-paced! It is, of course, pre-owned, but still in very nice antique condition, and not showing too much wear, there than some small random dings and markings, but could be cleaned more carefully of a bit of dust and debis. The wires have roughened some with age, but all are still intact, and the wood frame is solid. In addition to the opening trap door on the bottom, there is an access wire door on the front, secured with a wire catch The top has a wooden spool top, with a metal loop for hanging. The photos provide the best description. This cage measures approximately 17 inches in height and 10 inches wide, and about 8 inces deep. This item is perfect for collectors of antique and Victorian-styled bird houses and decorative pieces.
