Description: We offer for your consideration this antique Tambour style mantel clock for restoration. This clock is an antique William L. Gilbert model 1807. Judging by the inside label, that indicates in was made in "Winsted" Conn. it could date to about 1841-1845. Aesthetically this clock is in very good condition. The only outward issue is the oxidation of the brass rim around the glass lens. As for the clockworks, they may only require a good cleaning to get the clock to run properly. As it is now, it runs intermittently. That is why it is being listed as a restoration. We do not know why the clock face carries the initials LMR, perhaps it was a special customer order. These gilbert clocks are not easy to find, and one in this condition is rare.If you are a collector of antique American made mantel/tambour style clocks, this one will be a very nice addition to your collection.
