Description: This is an absolutely stunning original antique (mid-late 19th century) puched paper sampler with a combination of materials used in the stitching including maroon and beige wool thread, metallic gold thread, faded turquoise velvet, artificial flowers, real pressed ferns, and a small paper angel cutout. The sampler is beautifully displayed in the original solid bird's eye maple frame with the original wavy, bubbly glass. Translated, the sampler reads "Gentle Peace and Sweet Harmony are Here to Stay Under this Roof". Condition is excellent. The paper is yellowed from age and the thread colors and ferns a little faded, but everything is otherwise near-mint (very minor, unnoticeable, light surface wear might be present). All joints are tight and the entire piece is sturdy, solid, and fully functional. The original backing materials are intact. Outer dimensions of the frame are 17 1/4" W x 21 1/4" H and the sampler measures about 12" x 16". It will be packed securely, double boxed, and fully insured during shipping. Please provide a street address for shipping as this will not be delivered to a PO box. Advertised shipping cost covers shipping within the lower 48 states only. Please ask for a shipping quote to AK, HI, or Puerto Rico.
