Description: This pitcher & bowl set is decorated with beautiful multicolored transfer-ware, wild rose floral patterns, with gilt edging and spray enamel trimming done in pink, green, and chartreuse. The pitcher and bowl SHAPES clearly say, ART NOUVEAU, not Victorian. Designed for real people use, with a 4 liter pitcher. The bowl will hold 8 liters of water, and still allow nearly an inch of space to the top of the rim, so “hands in the water” won’t cause overflow. Bowl sits on an eight inch diameter footing that rises only 1/2 inch. Manufacturer of this marvelous eclectic set is unknown, as it is unmarked. Thankfully, the maker gave us a Rd # 424617, indicating it was produced in 1904. Otherwise, with all the mixed variables going into this set, it may well have been impossible to date, as it is clearly, very transitional in styling. There are no chips or cracks on either piece, and all defects that I can detect are on the edge of the bowl, and they may all be due to the process of manufacturing. But that is for you, the buyer, to decide, as there are ample photos showing the defects. Please carefully inspect all photos to determine condition of the set.
