Description: Vintage 20th Century glazed earthenware, white underglaze, hand painted stoneware Talavera plate, kiln fired. Talavera de la Reina pottery is a traditional type of faience, or tin-glazed earthenware made in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo (Spain). Spanish Talavera handcrafted ceramic with a royal like hand painted blazon family crest/coat of arms shield style design. While this image doesn't directly depict Don Quixote, it showcases elements reminiscent of the novel's themes: *Landscape and nature: The trees and countryside evoke the settings of Don Quixote's adventures, where he traveled through rural Spain. *Heraldry and chivalry: The coat of arms in the center symbolizes the chivalric world that Don Quixote romanticizes and seeks to emulate. Pate has two holes for hanging and is signed on the reverse. Measures 7.25”. There are two small chips on the edge and couple firing defects. SEE PHOTOS. Otherwise, in excellent condition of conservation.
