Description: Maker: This wonderful old porcelain cachepot, jardinière or flower pot is by Rörstrand, Sweden's pre-eminent porcelain maker. World renowned for its high quality and design expertise since 1726, Rörstrand is Europe's second oldest porcelain producer and still produces fine porcelain at its factory in Stockholm. Age: Two stamped Rörstrand marks are on the base of this beautiful piece: the Rörstrand crown signature mark without the word Sweden below the name, and a "Made in Sweden" Rörstrand mark. Two impressed marks also appear: the letters ME and the underscored letters BA. According to the Rorstrand museum, these impressed letters identify the model and material and do not suggest an age. Design: The planter features a boldly painted seaside cottage against a pale blue sky, trimmed in gold. Condition: There are no nicks, chips, cracks, stains or repairs. There is significant wear, especially to the handles and feet, and visible crazing throughout. Size: The cachepot is 7 1/2 inches wide at the opening and 7 inches tall. It weighs 2 pounds 11 ounces.
