Antique QUILT Irish Chain 1900 CINNAMON pink+OVERDYE green 77" Provenance, NICE!

Description: Antique Quilt DOUBLE IRISH CHAIN ********************************** I reluctantly bought this quilt years ago based on some really poor photos--the quilt colors were so intense that I didn't think the age estimate was accurate. However, the young girl who was selling her family's Pennsylvania heirloom seemed to think it was at least 100 years ago. I flipped when I opened it and could easily date the fabrics to that time period, maybe even older. The give-away was the Over-dyed Poison Green that had some bluish fade spots. (photos 6 and 7) The seller gave me the family names and their town, that I will share with the buyer. She and her relative, by marriage, didn't know the first name of the quilt maker. The colors are so bright that I'd bet it had been stored wrapped in a clean sheet, in the back of a wardrobe for most of it's long life (the way my grandmother stored hers)! No funky smells so it doesn't need washing which would rob it of some of it's lovely color. * approx 77" square-- to give a rough idea of it's size, I've draped it over a queen bed which is obviously too large (photo #5) * all cotton, beautifully hand-pieced and hand-quilted at 7-8 spi in an allover grid pattern with a triple-line cable quilting pattern along the border (photo #2) * woven dark blue plaid backing * straight-grain binding in the same cinnamon pink shows some wear on the edges * lightweight batting * some fading of the green is best seen in the upper right quadrant (outdoor photo #9)Photos 6 and 7 are each a close-up of that bottom edge fading * there is a small spot visible in the final photo Thank you for your interest.
